Education
On May 14th, Have Mercy™ took their message of “kindness to animals” to a 3rd
grade assembly at Jerry R. Junkins Elementary school in Carrollton, Texas.
At the Junkins 3rd grade assembly last month, Have Mercy™ conducted an animal
cruelty prevention education program that helped the students understand how to
recognize animal cruelty and what they can do to prevent it. Have Mercy™ also
lead the students in activities to teach them how to properly care for their own
pets and encourage them to become involved in community programs that help
animals.
During the assembly, Have Mercy™ recognized Makayla McDow, a 3rd grader,
with a monetary reward because of her heroic actions to rescue a newborn puppy
she found in a dumpster in her apartment complex. The puppy was discarded and
left to die but Makayla, with the help of her family, intervened to save the puppy’s
life. Makayla’s teacher at Junkins, Ms. Jamie Jordan, is a volunteer with Have
Mercy™ and arranged the assembly for the school.
If you would like to invite Have Mercy™ to your school or child's activity, please
contact us. Part of stopping animal cruelty in our community is teaching our
children to respect all forms of life and how to properly care for animals.
Animal cruelty prevention starts in our homes and schools!
